About the Department

The Department of Ophthalmology at CIMER KGF is committed to providing comprehensive eye care through excellence in patient care, medical education, and research. The department offers high-quality clinical training to undergraduate (MBBS) students in accordance with the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum, while delivering evidence-based ophthalmic services to patients.

The department is equipped with modern diagnostic and clinical facilities for the evaluation and management of a wide range of eye disorders. It provides comprehensive ophthalmic care, including the diagnosis and treatment of refractive errors, cataracts, glaucoma, conjunctival and corneal diseases, retinal disorders, ocular trauma, intraocular infections, pediatric eye diseases, neuro-ophthalmic conditions, and other vision-related disorders. The department also performs various ophthalmic procedures and surgeries using contemporary techniques and equipment.

Supported by experienced faculty and a patient-centered approach, the Department of Ophthalmology emphasizes early detection, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of eye diseases. Through clinical training, research activities, and community outreach programs such as eye screening and vision awareness initiatives, the department is dedicated to improving eye health and serving the healthcare needs of Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) and the surrounding communities.
